When you learn to drive with Hoot Hoot Driving School, you’ll not only get great value for money, but you will also get your own lesson plan. It is important that your lessons are not only structured in accordance with your own needs and abilities, but are also recorded clearly so you know exactly what level of learning you are at and, more importantly, have a clear view of what is needed to pass your test.
Rather than wait until you are at the test standard to spring a mock test upon you, we believe there is far more benefit to be had for you, and your instructor, in carrying out driving assessments at regular intervals. These assessments may occur after as few as 10 hours training. For example, when you have mastered clutch control, can move off and stop and turn corners, and emerge safely. In a safe area, you will be allowed to drive for 5 minutes independently whilst your driving instructor gives directions and records any faults on an assessment sheet.
There are 2 main advantages of starting this process of regular assessments early:
1. You can start to take responsibility for your actions at an early stage and become used to being evaluated well before test day, which will give you greater confidence on the day of your test.
2. Your faults will become obvious to both you and your instructor as he/she is not assisting you during the assessment. The eradication of those faults will then become a priority on your next lesson.
The assessments will gradually become longer and take a slightly more difficult route each time until you reach true test standard. Your progress will be recorded for you to take away.
By following this approach we are ensuring every lesson counts and you will be able to see your progress in your lesson plan. No lesson is wasted which should mean you need fewer lessons to pass your test. Now that’s what we call real value for money.

Intensive Courses
If you have had some previous experience and passed your theory test then an intensive course may be suitable for you. Please see our intensive courses page for more information. These courses are not for everyone but may be suitable if you need to pass your test within a given timeframe and can handle pressure and stress well.
