We understand that people come to driving instruction from all backgrounds and for many different reasons. Step 1

You don't need any formal qualifications our comprehensive training course will cover everything you'll need to qualify. But you will need to make sure that you fit the basic criteria set down by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA)*.

If you answered ‘yes’ to all of the above questions then you are able to undertake Driving Instructor Training.

If you haven’t been able to answer ‘yes’ to every question or you’re not sure about your eligibility, don’t worry….. call us on 0800 2289500.

Step 2

Training is the next vital step in beginning your new career. To become an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) you must qualify through examination. The exam has three parts:

You must pass all three parts, in order, within a period of two years. If you don't complete them all within that time, you'll need to start again from scratch. You can take the theory test as many times as you need to, but you'll only have three attempts at each of the practical tests within those two years.

So why choose to train with Hoot Hoot Driving School?

There are many training providers out there, what makes us different? Trainee instructors come to us from many different backgrounds with different skills. Because of this they don’t all start their training on a level playing field. But by tailoring our training according to their abilities we can make sure they all finish at the same level.

How does it work?

Part 1 – Theory & Hazard Perception

We will arrange for you to meet with your personal tutor who will provide you with all the training materials you need and practice exercises to prepare you for the Part 1 exam. You will be able to then call on your tutor for support whenever you need help and advice along the way.

Part 2 –Practical Driving

Once you have passed your part 1 exam a further meeting is arranged with your tutor to make sure you know what to expect and how to progress through your part 2. Your tutor will assess your driving ability at this stage and arrange for your in-car training to commence. You will be given regular assessments building up to a full mock test before your actual test day. The number of hours used here will depend on your driving ability at the start.

Part 3 – Practical Instruction Ability

Our comprehensive open learning package of DVD’s, books, workbooks, prompt sheets and colour presenter will help you study at home and understand the level of instruction the DSA are looking for. This together with 1-2-1 in-car tuition with your tutor will make sure you receive the best preparation to see you through this tricky part of the exam.

Depending on your ability, availability and your devotion to your training the whole process can take anywhere between 6 and 24 months to complete and become a fully qualified driving instructor. Our training package allows you to train in a way that suits you and you can still keep earning in your current job while you train.
